Painting (Lhadri)
Bhutanese traditional painting, known as Lhazo, is one of the 13 traditional arts and crafts of Bhutan, collectively called Zorig Chusum. Lhazo involves intricate and colorful paintings that often depict religious themes, deities, and symbols. These paintings are found on thangkas (scroll paintings), walls of monasteries and temples, and religious objects.
Artisans follow strict guidelines and symbolic representations passed down through generations. The meticulous process involves preparing natural pigments from minerals, plants, and other materials to achieve the vibrant colors characteristic of Bhutanese art.
